With the release of the eagerly awaited Guild Wars S2: Spore Sports event, Pixels, the Ronin-based social role-playing game, is preparing for an exciting new chapter. This follow-up, which is scheduled to begin on December 10, 2024, and end on March 4, 2025, promises improved gameplay mechanics and, most importantly, a record-breaking award pool of $4 million in PIXEL tokens. A new standard for the game’s competitive tournaments is set by this significant rise in prize money, which is up from $85,000 in the first season.
The latest Guild Wars event introduces a fresh twist with a focus on collaborative gameplay, where guilds will grow and harvest mushrooms, sabotage rival guilds’ crops, and strive to climb the leaderboards. Players will also aim to hit significant milestones throughout the event, which will reward both individuals and teams with PIXEL tokens, Guild Runes, and exclusive in-game items.
A standout feature for Season 2 is the introduction of T4 Ultimate Items, a powerful new mechanic that allows players to craft unique items using specific resources. These items can significantly impact gameplay, adding a layer of strategy to the event.
Luke Barwikowski, the founder and CEO of Pixels, emphasized the importance of this season, noting, “Guild Wars S2: Spore Sports is setting a new benchmark for PVP gameplay in Pixels with its record-breaking $4 million USD prize pool. This season builds on the success of our inaugural Guild Wars, which resulted in more $PIXEL being burned than distributed, and incorporates feedback to deliver an even more rewarding experience.”
He continued, “With this event, we’re experimenting to find out what’s possible in web3 gaming and laying the groundwork for regular large-scale competitions that will create a positive outcome for the ecosystem.”
