Embracer Group has closed Pieces Interactive, the Skovde, Sweden-based studio behind this year’s Alone in the Dark reboot.
Since its founding in 2007, Pieces Interactive released over ten titles across PC, console, and mobile platforms. These included original concepts like Puzzlegeddon, Fret Nice, Leviathan Warships, Robo Surf, and Kill to Collect. They also produced work-for-hire titles such as Magicka 2 and several downloadable contents for Magicka.
The studio collaborated with notable clients such as Paradox Interactive, Koei Tecmo, Arrowhead Game Studios, Koch Media, and RaceRoom Entertainment. Their extensive portfolio showcases their versatility and capability in game development.
Embracer Group acquired Pieces Interactive in 2017 after their successful expansions for Titan Quest: Titan Quest: Ragnarok and Titan Quest: Atlantis. The studio’s final project was the reimagining of Alone in the Dark, a significant undertaking that aimed to breathe new life into a classic franchise.
On their official website, Pieces Interactive stated: “Pieces Interactive released over ten titles on PC, console, and mobile since 2007—both our own concepts such as Puzzlegeddon, Fret Nice, Leviathan Warships, Robo Surf, and Kill to Collect, as well as work for hire titles such as Magicka 2 and several downloadable contents for Magicka.
