Following their victory at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, PGL is now aiming to dedicate themselves full-time to the Counter-Strike professional scene. The well-known event planner has revealed intentions to hold an amazing schedule of eleven tier-one competitions in 2025 and 2026. This action represents a substantial departure from PGL’s prior participation, which was mostly limited to Majors.
PGL believes that it is the right time to get back in touch with the community after Valve’s recent order prohibiting Partner teams from participating in the competitive Counter-Strike scene. Although they have mostly just been present at Majors in recent years, PGL is ready to take a more active part in determining the direction of Counter-Strike.
The Counter-Strike calendar gains momentum from PGL’s ambitious calendar announcement, which also raises the bar for competitiveness. The PGL tournament schedule suggests possible conflicts for participating teams, with some of the events being on the same day as BLAST and ESL events. The following is the suggested schedule for PGL CS tournaments:
Despite the burgeoning schedule, the heightened competition promises to fuel innovation, enriching the Counter-Strike ecosystem. PGL’s commitment echoes this sentiment:
“For the first time since 2016, PGL will be able to organize CS2 Tier 1, non-major tournaments, signaling the end of the era dominated by a few esports organizers who created a monopoly on the Counter-Strike market.”
While details beyond the initial dates remain scant, PGL assures enthusiasts that further information on the Counter-Strike 2 events will follow in due course. Brace yourselves for an electrifying journey as PGL elevates the competitive Counter-Strike experience to new heights.
