A state-of-the-art 3D gaming engine has been released by the Open 3D Foundation, a division of the Linux Foundation, causing quite a stir. This innovation marks a revolution for open-source gaming technology under the terms of the Apache license.
The opening of “MadWorld” was praised as a historic occasion by Joe Bryant, Executive Director of the Open 3D Foundation. This mobile game uses the O3DE game engine and was created by Carbonated Inc., a gaming firm located in El Segundo.
Carbonated Inc. raised $11 million for its main project, “MadWorld,” in a big investment round, as the Los Angeles Business Journal reported. This comes after a fruitful initial investment round in 2020, indicating an increasing level of investor trust in the business.
“MadWorld” promises an immersive experience set in a post-apocalyptic world. Leveraging Carbonated’s proprietary technology, Carbyne, and open-source mapping tools, the game offers both PvP and PvE gameplay. Notably, players are transported to a virtual rendition of their real-world locations within the game’s universe.
“MadWorld” is revolutionary in that it uses the XPLA network to integrate blockchain technology. This adds a level of ownership to digital assets and lets users modify and exchange tokenized versions of actual places. The game will be made available to the whole public later this year once Early Access registration opens.
Regarding mobile gaming’s future and its potential for Web3 innovation, CEO Travis Boatman voiced hope. The goal of “MadWorld” is to raise the bar for digital entertainment by combining cutting-edge technology with captivating gameplay.
