Netmarble Shifts Marblex to Immutable zkEVM Platform

Share

Netmarble, a prominent player in the South Korean gaming industry, has announced a strategic move for its Marblex blockchain platform, transitioning from Klaytn to Immutable zkEVM. This shift aims to enhance the platform’s capabilities and expand its integration with AAA games.

The migration entails transferring assets from three notable web2 games with web3 integration: “Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds,” “A3: Still Alive,” and “Meta World: My City.” This strategic move is expected to streamline operations and create a more resilient environment for current and future game developments.

CEO Hong Jin Pyo emphasized, “At MARBLEX, we are dedicated to crafting compelling web3 gaming experiences. Partnering with Immutable and their zkEVM chain ensures scalability and enhances player experiences.”

Strengthening Core Offerings and Investment

Netmarble’s strategic pivot follows experimental launches in 2022 and 2023 that didn’t sustain engagement. Focusing on core offerings, including the MBX token, a wallet, decentralized exchange, staking features, and an NFT marketplace within Marblex, the shift to Immutable zkEVM aligns with a broader strategy for stability and growth.

As part of their commitment, Netmarble and Immutable are jointly investing $20 million in the Ecosystem Boost Program. This initiative supports developers in creating and scaling web3 games on the revamped platform, reinforcing their foothold in the evolving gaming landscape.
