The developers of the Ethereum-based action game Moonray have disclosed their intentions for a brand-new mobile auto-battler that will go live in early 2025. Using the same resources, this spinoff will be set in the same “post-human” universe as the original game. Owners of Moonray tokens will also be able to access unique rewards and content through the new game.
Auto-battlers, or “auto chess” games, allow players to strategically place characters on a board, which then automatically fight against an opposing team. While Riot Games’ Teamfight Tactics remains one of the most popular examples, Moonray’s upcoming entry into the genre promises to deliver a fresh take. The game will offer “more in-depth resource management and counter-play” than other titles, along with Web3 integration for a next-generation experience.
The new auto-battler will further expand the Moonray universe, which is already anchored by a sci-fi combat arena game and graphic novels. Moonray debuted its early access PC version on the Epic Games Store in July 2023, featuring a unique play-to-airdrop campaign that rewarded players for participating.
Moonray, which was first developed on the layer-2 network of Bitcoin (Stacks), moved to Ethereum because of “infrastructure needs” and has now developed into an arena game for multiplayer warfare. Though it probably won’t be the last, the new mobile auto-battler will be the Moonray IP’s first significant extension. The spinoff’s competitive gameplay will reward players with Moonray’s MNRY token, even if its name is still unknown. Winners of the event will receive these tokens, which can be used to access premium in-game content.
Fans may anticipate more cutting-edge games in the future as Moonray expands its gaming realm. Its foray into new game genres with the mobile auto-battler is just getting started.
