Share

Grease Monkey Games (GMG), a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, has launched a significant update for its drift racing simulator Torque Drift 2 (TD2) on the Epic Games Store. This update introduces new cars, a freestyle game mode, multiplayer leaderboards, and integration with Motorverse, a digital ecosystem by Animoca Brands.

The Torque Motorsport franchise, with over 45 million downloads globally, has enhanced TD2 with its biggest update yet. Players can now enjoy new in-game features, including the Nissan R33, Toyota Chaser JZX100, Toyota MK4 Supra, Honda S2000, and Honda Civic Type R. These new models join existing ones like the Nissan R34, Mazda RX7, and others.

The new freestyle mode allows players to showcase their drifting skills by hitting as many clipping points as possible within a time limit. Players can improve their scores through drifts, close calls, wall taps, and transitions. This mode caters to all skill levels with Beginner, Intermediate, and Pro circuits.

Multiplayer leaderboards have also been introduced, letting players compete for the highest scores against friends and drifters worldwide. These leaderboards reset weekly, offering fresh opportunities to climb the ranks and earn rewards like the REVV token and the new in-game currency, Torque Funds (ToFu). Top drivers can spend these tokens in the shop to purchase new cars and parts.

The update also brings a revamped in-game shop, making it easier for players to find and buy what they need. Arran Potter, CEO of Grease Monkey Games, said, “This update is a massive step toward finalizing the core systems that we’ve been building together with the Torque Drift 2 community over the past few months. We are excited to offer players so many fresh and exciting features.”

Torque Drift 2 has officially joined Motorverse, and the update includes support for the REVV token, which players can use to purchase in-game assets across multiple games in the Motorverse ecosystem. Players can now see their token balances in the game’s UI and use REVV tokens to buy Limited Edition NFT items with a discount. They can also earn weekly REVV rewards by reaching top leaderboard ranks.

Will Griffiths, vice president of commercial strategy at Animoca Brands and general manager of Motorverse, said, “With the addition of REVV and further integration into Motorverse, Torque Drift 2 continues our shared mission to create the most expansive, immersive, and interconnected ecosystem for all motorsports fans across the world.”

Since its Early Access release in October 2023, Torque Drift 2 has attracted over 380,000 players. The game features extensive profile and garage customization, realistic car physics, and performance tuning for PC peripherals. With user-generated content tools and both single- and multiplayer experiences, Torque Drift 2 offers a customizable and engaging experience.

Torque Drift 2 features licensed partnerships with prominent motorsport organizations and car manufacturers, including Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and Formula DRIFT, with more to come.
