The public onboarding of Lamina1, a cutting-edge layer one blockchain ecosystem, is about to happen. Lamina1, which was founded to assist Web3 initiatives, aims to create an Open Metaverse in which users and digital producers have more authority. In June 2022, Lamina1, a venture capital firm with experience in Web3 and founded by “Snow Crash” author Neal Stephenson and seasoned investor Peter Vessenes, got its start.
With the token genesis event (TGE) on May 17th, Lamina1 achieved a significant milestone by producing 500 million L1 tokens. Over the following 10 years, this local currency supply will treble to one billion. On May 13th, the platform’s Mainnet became online. Shortly after, the first validator nodes—which were based on the Avalanche consensus for scalability and reliability—were deployed.
The public onboarding starts on May 28th, ahead of the Consensus 2024 event. Neal Stephenson will spearhead the introduction of Lamina1’s advancements and features, highlighting partnerships and launching a marketing campaign to enhance visibility. The onboarding will initially involve core teams, strategic partners, featured artists, and select community members, before opening to the wider public. Following this, the platform will roll out staking, voting, and rewards.
Lamina1 is also relaunching the Lamina1 Hub, a wallet and onboarding platform powered by its own technology and protocol. Currently in beta, the Hub will offer quests and incentivized testing for the community, encouraging active participation and feedback.
The Open Metaverse Foundation (OMF), a non-profit organization backing Lamina1, will continue funding protocol development and promoting ecosystem growth. OMF’s mission is to build an open metaverse, ensuring digital creators and consumers have greater autonomy over their virtual environments.
