The Multiplayer Group (MPG), a Web3 gaming enterprise founded by metaverse technology company Improbable, has been sold to Keywords Studios for a large £76.5 million ($97.1 million), marking a big end-of-year development. This calculated action is in line with Improbable’s 2024 venture strategy goal.
Co-founder and CEO of Improbable Herman Narula stated his happiness with the agreement, calling Keywords Studios “a like-minded business partner.” A new chapter for the game company, which has worked with industry heavyweights including Activision Blizzard, Bethesda, Zenimax, Epic Games, and 2K, is marked by the sale of MPG to Keywords Studios.
Narula highlighted Improbable’s commitment to nurturing ventures across various sectors, stating, “Nurturing and fostering ventures across Sports, Web3, and fashion is at the heart of our philosophy and allows us to realize lasting value.”
Along with their projections for 2024, Improbable emphasized that Web3 and the metaverse are far from becoming “yesterday’s news.” Narula expects the metaverse to develop significantly due to the confluence of Web3, VR/XR, and gaming technology.
In the upcoming year, the business anticipates more simplification and consolidation in the Web3, gaming, and cryptocurrency industries. Improbable claims that this will help create a “stronger, more resilient, and more cohesive startup ecosystem.”
With support from Softbank, Improbable has been actively engaged in the metaverse environment. It collaborated with Major League Baseball in 2023 to build a virtual baseball stadium that would enable spectators to participate in virtual reality games. The business hopes to see more gaming experiences that bridge the gap between the real and virtual worlds.
Improbable predicts that generative artificial intelligence (AI) will be used more often in business and content production going forward. The company’s chief operational officer and co-founder, Peter Lipka, emphasized the transformational effect of AI on corporate operations. He projects that in 2024, artificial intelligence (AI) will produce 3D interactive items that will further alter the metaverse and digital experiences.
