Immutable Launches Mobile Gaming Division

Share

Immutable is doubling down on mobile gaming, carving out a dedicated division to focus on a $121 billion market where more than half the world’s gamers now play. The new branch aims to build mobile-first tools, strengthen ties with app stores, and accelerate blockchain adoption on phones, putting web3 gaming within easy reach of everyday players.

Good to know

  • Over 680 games have already joined the Immutable platform.
  • The company reported a 53% increase in new developer inquiries this year.
  • Mobile gaming now makes up more than half of the global gaming industry’s revenue.

Robbie Ferguson, Immutable’s president, called mobile “the single largest opportunity in gaming” and pointed to recent policy changes in app stores that helped three Immutable-backed titles hit the #1 spot on mobile charts. His comments highlight how central mobile has become to the company’s strategy.

The move comes after a big year for Immutable, with over 180 new games onboarded in recent months, partnerships with major exchanges and stablecoin projects, and Ubisoft choosing its platform to build Might & Magic: Fates. The launch of Immutable Play, a platform designed to onboard traditional game developers, signals the company’s intent to merge established gaming brands with blockchain innovation.

Meanwhile, new campaigns and projects are generating excitement. Koin Games’ Project O promises a mobile-first experience, while Dutch studio GAMEDIA hinted at reviving Spider Tanks. Games like Slime Miner and Dæmons are hosting leaderboard events with rewards, reinforcing Immutable’s push to blend community engagement with blockchain incentives.

Legal shifts have also played a role. The Epic Games vs. Apple decision and the anticipated CLARITY Act are reshaping how blockchain apps operate in mobile ecosystems, giving Immutable a clearer runway for expansion.

Building for Scale and Long-Term Adoption

Immutable is framing its mobile division as a way to reach one billion new players. Its Ethereum Layer-2 solution, Immutable Chain, along with products like Immutable Passport and Immutable Play, are designed to make blockchain more accessible for both developers and gamers.

The numbers reflect that ambition: a 32% rise in monthly active users shows that interest is spreading beyond niche audiences. For developers, Immutable’s infrastructure provides the flexibility to integrate blockchain without overhauling traditional game mechanics. For players, it means ownership, rewards, and seamless experiences across devices.
