Immutable, a prominent player in Ethereum gaming, has forged a significant partnership with Marblex, the blockchain gaming division of South Korea’s Netmarble. This collaboration aims to migrate Marblex’s top games—Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, A3: Still Alive, and Meta World: My City—from the layer-1 Klaytn blockchain to Immutable’s zkEVM on Ethereum’s layer-2 network. Powered by Polygon’s zkEVM scaling technology, this move promises enhanced scalability and performance for these popular titles.
“This is one of the most significant partnerships we’ve made to date,” stated Robbie Ferguson, Immutable’s co-founder and President. “South Korea is an exciting hub of developer activity in Web3 gaming, and Marblex and Netmarble are pioneers here.”
The alliance includes an ambitious “Ecosystem Boost Program,” which earmarks up to $20 million to support developers in attracting new titles to both Marblex and Immutable. This initiative is expected to broaden the reach of these gaming experiences and ensure scalability across current and future titles.
“To maximize the reach of these experiences and ensure scalability for both existing and upcoming titles, partnering with a proven leader in Web3 gaming was crucial,” noted Hong Jin Pyo, CEO of Marblex. “That’s why Immutable and their industry-leading zkEVM chain was the right choice.”
Earlier this year, Marblex had announced plans to collaborate with the layer-1 blockchain network Saga to support its upcoming games. While Saga specializes in launching dedicated chains, Marblex’s shift to Immutable’s zkEVM highlights its strategic focus on leveraging Ethereum’s ecosystem for enhanced performance and user engagement
