Moca Foundation is preparing to launch something that could change how user data and identity are handled online. The upcoming Moca Chain is not just another blockchain—it is being built as a tool to give people full control over their digital identities. Backed by Animoca Brands, the project is setting its sights on breaking down the walls of today’s closed ecosystems.
Good to know
Animoca Brands and its identity ecosystem, Moca Network, are moving forward with a project that could disrupt how apps and platforms handle user data. Moca Chain, their upcoming Layer 1 blockchain, is designed to support both real-world and Web3 identity verification. Rather than depending on single sign-on systems like Google or Facebook—which centralize user data and create risk—Moca Chain allows users to control who accesses their credentials.
The project brings a user-first approach to identity and data by allowing individuals to verify credentials without relying on traditional, centralized services. It includes support for zero knowledge proofs, data sharing permissions, and interoperability across multiple chains and apps.
At the center of Moca Chain’s structure is the AIR Kit, developed by Moca Network. It acts as a toolkit for developers to build smart accounts, manage permissions, and verify identity data. Applications using AIR Kit will be able to plug directly into Moca Chain and give users seamless control over how their data moves between platforms.
The project team expects strong integration across apps and services—especially those already aligned with Animoca Brands. Partners include SK Planet’s OK Cashbag and OneFootball, with combined access to hundreds of millions of users. These integrations could put Moca Chain in front of over 700 million people.
Moca Chain will focus on practical identity use cases. In healthcare, it could power unified medical records. In hiring, it supports verified education and training history. In finance, it enables KYC and AML that respect privacy. And in advertising, it makes unified onboarding possible without giving up personal information.
What makes Moca Chain stand out is its ability to work across apps and industries without locking users into one ecosystem. Users will be able to set specific permissions on what data they share, and even earn tokens or benefits when their data is used.
Yat Siu of Animoca Brands summed up the vision clearly. He said single sign-ons make users vulnerable and strip them of control. “Moca Chain seeks to solve this problem by giving users decentralized true ownership of their data,” he explained.
Kenneth Shek, who leads the Moca Network project, added that the current model of data ownership is broken. “By adopting Moca Chain and MOCA Coin, we believe we can disrupt current models of data ownership,” he said.
The bigger idea is to let end users become the counterparty in data verification, instead of relying on tech giants to manage their identity.
