The tap-to-earn game Hamster Kombat, available on Telegram, has gone viral, attracting a staggering quarter of a billion players. This surge in popularity coincides with the anticipation surrounding its upcoming token launch.
In a unique twist, Hamster Kombat recently referenced a real-world event: the failed assassination attempt against Donald Trump. The game introduced a “Fight fight fight” special card, which reimagines the iconic photo of a bloodied Trump raising his fist. The card features smiling cartoon hamsters and the subtitle “Hamsters never give up,” along with the description, “You are a strong manager and nothing can stop you.”
This card mirrors the photo taken by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Evan Vucci at Trump’s Philadelphia rally. The image shows a bleeding Trump, the Secret Service protectors clutching him, and the American flag replaced with the game’s logo. Trump’s reported rallying cry, “Fight, fight, fight,” has become a slogan among his supporters. He even began selling limited-edition sneakers featuring the phrase and his photo.
Hamster Kombat, playable within the Telegram messaging platform, lets players act as hamster CEOs running their own crypto exchanges. Players spend money on upgrades, features, and marketing to generate passive income over time. The game includes cards inspired by various events, such as the Euro 2024 soccer tournament and crypto conferences.
Since its launch, Hamster Kombat has amassed over 250 million players in just three months. This milestone follows Telegram CEO and co-founder Pavel Durov’s announcement that the game had 239 million players as of July 5. Like its predecessor, Notcoin, Hamster Kombat plans to launch a crypto token on The Open Network (TON), allowing players to claim it via an airdrop process expected this month.
Trump, previously skeptical about cryptocurrency, has recently shown support for it. His campaign now accepts crypto donations, and the Republican party’s draft platform includes cryptocurrency, with Trump pledging support for Bitcoin miners in the U.S.
