The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), two leading UN agencies, have appointed the Global Esports Federation (GEF), a pioneer in the esports industry, to the Advisory Group. The Digital Acceleration Agenda for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has advanced thanks to this partnership in a significant way.
A distinguished collection of business and civil society leaders, including well-known companies like Amazon, AT&T, Microsoft, SAP, and Verizon, will collaborate with the GEF. The GEF’s consistent commitment to empowering and including young people in the advancement of the #GlobalGoals is shown by this relationship. The objective is to go beyond academic debates and innovation and instead focus on making a meaningful difference in the world.
As the GEF’s Executive Director of Strategy & Impact, Thanos Karagrounas, expressed, “We are honored to be a part of the UN SDG Digital Acceleration Agenda’s Advisory Group, working hand in hand with other influential global organizations to advance the global sustainability agenda. Together, we will harness the power of digital technologies, esports, and youth to make a meaningful difference.”
Esports is one of the main channels via which the GEF interacts with the young of the world. The Federation uses young people’s energy to make real advancements toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations by leveraging their passion and leadership on a global scale. Now that it is a proud member of the Advisory Group, the GEF is looking forward to sharing its experience to hasten the accomplishment of these crucial global goals.
