The fantasy role-playing game Forgotten Runiverse will move to the Ethereum sidechain gaming network Ronin, according to a statement released by its makers, Bisonic, Inc. and Magic Machine. This action is in response to the popularity of other Ronin games, including Pixels and Axie Infinity. Based on the Ethereum NFT collection Forgotten Runes: Wizard’s Cult, Forgotten Runiverse seeks to improve user experience by utilizing Ronin’s skills.
Forgotten Runiverse is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that allows players to form guilds, engage in player-vs-environment expeditions, participate in player-vs-player combat, and craft items using in-game resources. Initially, the game was being developed on Arbitrum, another Ethereum scaling network. However, the transition to Ronin aligns with the trend of other crypto games like Kaidro and Pixels, which have also migrated to the network created by Sky Mavis, the developer of Axie Infinity.
Sky Mavis co-founder and CEO Trung Nguyen expressed enthusiasm about the migration, stating, “The Forgotten Runiverse’s vision of building a game that enables the community to interact in meaningful ways through shared experiences, storytelling, and adventure resonates with the Ronin community. We are thrilled to see this genre and gameplay experience come to our community and welcome The Cult into the Ronin ecosystem.”
The game’s Ronin launch will kick off with a closed beta event on July 31, followed by a public gameplay event in August. This pre-alpha “New Foundations” event will allow players to mint and build on plots and earn mintable gameplay rewards. All Forgotten Runiverse NFT collections will migrate to Ronin as part of this transition.
Additionally, Forgotten Runiverse is set to debut on the Epic Game Store later this year, with plans to optimize the game for mobile devices. The move to Ronin is expected to enhance the game’s performance and scalability, providing a better experience for players.
