The Esports Awards 2024 took place in Riyadh, marking the first time this prestigious event was held in the MENA region. The event coincided with the final weekend of the Esports World Cup and was hosted in collaboration with the Esports World Cup Foundation. Despite initial controversies, where some panelists resigned after the partnership was announced, the awards ceremony proceeded without a hitch, celebrating top esports talent and organizations.
This year’s event, held during the New Sports Global Conference, honored a wide range of winners across various categories. Notably, Samantha ‘RIVERS’ Rivera Treviño was named Streamer of the Year, while Seth ‘Scump’ Abner took home the award for Personality of the Year.
In the Esports Breakthrough Player of the Year category, Malr1ne emerged as the winner, highlighting a year of impressive achievements. Meanwhile, Teamfight Tactics was recognized as the Breakthrough Game of the Year.
S8UL Esports had a significant night, winning Esports Content Group of the Year. The Esports Game of the Year award went to VALORANT, further cementing its place in the competitive gaming landscape.
The awards also included a special category called “Ones to Watch,” which spotlighted emerging talents and promising organizations in esports. Winners in this category included Zip Creative, Alti Agency, Gaming Gladiators, the Philippines, S8ul Esports, Full Squad Gaming, and Nobru.
Riot Games was honored as the Esports Game Publisher of the Year, while Liquipedia took home the award for Esports Coverage and Content Platform of the Year. Team Liquid won Creative Team of the Year, continuing their legacy of innovation in the esports space.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was named Mobile Esports Game of the Year, and Red Bull was recognized as the Esports Commercial Partner of the Year. Marc Robert ‘Caedrel’ Lamont received the award for Esports Community Leader of the Year, and Jacob ‘PIMP’ Winneche was celebrated as the Esports Analyst of the Year.
Additionally, the Lifetime Achievement Class of 2024 included G2 Esports founder Bayes and ESL’s Jens Hilgers, who were honored for their long-standing contributions to the esports industry.
