Crypto Unicorns Announces Play-to-Airdrop Campaign During Network Migration

Share

The well-known NFT game Crypto Unicorns from Laguna Games has revealed plans for a ground-breaking “play-to-airdrop” campaign that will launch early next month. This is a wonderful development. This endeavor comes at the same time that the game makes a significant move from the Polygon sidechain to the state-of-the-art layer-3 Xai gaming network offered by Arbitrum.

With a diverse gaming world that includes everything from jousting and party games to land-based building and combat adventures, Crypto Unicorns has made a name for itself since its founding in 2021. The project’s NFTs have gained a lot of popularity, with an astounding $35 million in trading volume recorded thus far.

Migration and Gameplay Pause

As Crypto Unicorns embarks on its migration journey to the Xai network, the game is slated to undergo a temporary hiatus, rendering it unplayable during the transition period. This migration phase, anticipated to span approximately one month, will culminate with the resumption of gameplay alongside the commencement of the play-to-airdrop campaign.

During the campaign, players will have the opportunity to accrue points by undertaking a myriad of in-game activities, including hatching Shadowcorn eggs, breeding unicorns, and nurturing baby unicorns to maturity. These accumulated points will determine players’ respective tiers, dictating the distribution of token rewards at the campaign’s conclusion.

Laguna Games’ co-founder and CEO, Aron Beierschmitt, previously underscored the operational hurdles encountered while operating on Polygon, including sporadic network gas spikes that escalated operational costs and impeded player engagement. To address these challenges, the studio had been subsidizing network fees, incurring significant monthly expenses.

The transition to Xai, an Ethereum layer-2 scaling network built atop Arbitrum, represents a strategic maneuver aimed at mitigating these challenges by abolishing gas fees for players through a subsidy mechanism.

As Crypto Unicorns prepares to unveil its enhanced gaming experience on the Xai network, the forthcoming play-to-airdrop campaign promises to reward dedicated players while enticing new participants. This strategic endeavor is poised to fuel the expansion of the Crypto Unicorns community, ushering in a new era of immersive gameplay and unparalleled rewards.
