With the support of Andreessen Horowitz (a16Z) and Delphi Digital, BreederDAO has changed its name to Sovrun to better reflect its broader goals. Beyond the creation of web3 gaming assets, Sovrun now seeks to build self-evolving game ecosystems that enable communities, developers, and players to work together to manage and expand virtual worlds.
Sovrun’s vision rests on three distinct layers, each driving a core aspect of its mission:
“Sovrun is the natural evolution of BreederDAO, reflecting our commitment to permissionless composability, scalability, and the empowerment of players and creators,” said Renz Chong, Sovrun co-founder.
Sovrun’s trajectory has already been validated through notable achievements. In June 2024, BreederDAO secured first place at CCP Games’ Project Awakening hackathon, now known as EVE Frontier. The team’s innovative gameplay and integration of Autonomous Worlds concepts impressed CCP Games’ CEO, Hilmar V. Pétursson. “BreederDAO’s victory…is a testament to their ingenuity and vision,” said Pétursson.
Continuing its growth, Sovrun hosted a Game Jam during Yield Guild Games’ Play Summit in Manila in November 2024. Kusho Guardians, developed by Kusho World, won first place, securing a prize pool and plans to integrate with Sovrun’s tech stack. Chong highlighted the significance of this win: “This demonstrates that the Philippines is not only a hub for crypto adoption, but also a place for builders to emerge.”
