The last character to be on the Tekken 8 launch lineup has been revealed by Bandai Namco, and she is none other than the powerful Reina. This fighter is quite similar to Heihachi Mishima, the late series nemesis whose chapter ended in Tekken 7.
In a groundbreaking collaboration with Taido World Champion Tetsuji Nakano, Bandai Namco introduces Reina, described by Tekken 8 director Kohei Ikeda as possessing a “charismatic sense of evil.” Reina’s combat techniques showcase a fascinating blend of the forceful Mishima style and the acrobatic movements derived from Taido, a martial art evolved from traditional Okinawan karate.
A captivating gameplay teaser that encapsulates Reina’s spirit has been released to coincide with the announcement. Reina ascends to the dojo throne of the Mishima family and fights fiercely, especially with Jin Kazama and Kazuya, who are members of the Mishima bloodline. Her affinity for Heihachi is highlighted in the teaser, which includes distinctive skills like the Electric Wind God Fist uppercut and a Rage Art finisher that is shrouded in darkness and evocative of Heihachi’s sinister figure.
It doesn’t end there for Director Ikeda. The revelation of Reina is accompanied by a plot shift in Tekken 8 with the arrival of Victor Chevalier, the commander of the UN military forces. Victor’s fighting technique, which has been called “super spy-style CQB,” combines a variety of weapons, such as optical equipment and combat and karambit knives. This multidisciplinary method blends science fiction, ninjutsu, military fighting, and super spy tactics.
Tekken 8, which is scheduled to release on January 26, 2024, will feature interesting new storylines introduced by Reina and Victor to the beloved fighting genre. The game, which is accessible on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, boasts an engaging and dynamic lineup that is sure to enthrall both casual players and enthusiasts.
