Axie Infinity Opens Merch Store and Grants NFT Commercial Rights

Share

Sky Mavis, creators of the popular Web3 game Axie Infinity, has opened a merchandise store and extended commercial rights to a select group of NFT owners. Similar to other Web3 initiatives like Doodles and Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), this move empowers owners of Mystic and Origin Axie NFTs to create and market their own merchandise based on their digital assets.

In this new venture, owners of these specific NFTs, totaling 4,877, have the unique opportunity to commercialize their Axies. They can transform their digital characters into physical products such as t-shirts, posters, and mugs, effectively starting their own Axie-themed businesses. Sky Mavis co-founder Jeffrey “Jiho” Zirlin mentioned that they’re initially focusing on the Genesis collections and may consider expanding these rights to other Axies in the future.

This initiative enables players to use their Axie characters in real-world business ventures, like opening themed cafes or producing comics. However, these commercial rights are currently limited to a fraction of the over 11.9 million Axie NFTs.

The newly opened Axie merch store accepts both crypto and fiat currencies, offering incentives for crypto transactions. The first 5,000 crypto purchasers will receive a free Axie NFT. In the Philippines, where Axie Infinity enjoys immense popularity, fans can gain additional rewards through the Grab app. Additionally, 20% of the store’s net profits will go to the Axie Community Treasury.

Launched just in time for the holiday season, the store features an array of products, including plush toys, high-end figurines, and branded clothing. Sky Mavis plans to continually expand the store with more designs and collections.
