Axie Infinity has launched a new Chrome extension called Axie Pals, giving owners a new way to interact with their digital pets. Inspired by the nostalgic Tamagotchi experience, this extension allows users to nurture their Axies while they browse the web, bringing a playful twist to the NFT experience beyond the usual gaming setup.
Developed by Kindred, known for their work on virtual companions, Axie Pals is designed to be both simple and engaging. Users can select up to three Axies and take care of them by feeding, petting, and putting them to sleep—all while using their browser. This way, owning Axies becomes more than just a part of the gaming world; it becomes part of daily life, merging browsing with pet care.
An appealing feature of Axie Pals is the chance to earn AXP, Axie Infinity’s in-game currency, through interacting with the pets. Users can earn AXP in both active and passive ways, with rewards based on a “Care Index” that tracks the attention each Axie gets. The more you engage with your Axies, the more AXP you can earn.
Axie Infinity also added a leaderboard to create a competitive aspect among users. Those who rank the highest in caring for their Axies can win AXS tokens as rewards. Additionally, the extension features a referral system that encourages users to invite friends to join the fun, with incentives for bringing in new players.
