Amazon Partners with Esports World Cup for Exclusive Online Hub

Share

Amazon and the Esports World Cup (EWC) have partnered to create a specialized online center on Amazon’s websites in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. By providing ticket buyers with exclusive offers, live stream information, and Amazon discount codes, this partnership seeks to improve the viewing experience.

The alliance was announced at the same time as the Esports World Cup, a renowned international competition that begins in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and runs for about two months. Remarkably, the competition has one of the highest prize pools in the business, with a whopping $60 million split among 21 esports games.

Mixed Reactions and Controversy

Despite its grand scale, the Esports World Cup has faced criticism regarding its association with the Saudi Arabian government and concerns over human rights issues. Nevertheless, the event continues to attract major commercial partners, with Amazon joining a roster that includes LG UltraGear, TikTok, Pepsi, Unilever, Adidas, Aramco, and others.

Mohammed Al Nimer, sales director at the Esports World Cup Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing Amazon’s understanding of esports’ appeal as a cutting-edge form of entertainment. He highlighted the importance of providing a seamless online platform where gaming enthusiasts can engage with the tournament and enjoy the action from Riyadh.

“This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Esports World Cup,” stated Al Nimer. “We are excited to merge the thrill of live esports with the convenience of Amazon’s e-commerce platform, ensuring an unmatched experience for fans across the MENA region and beyond.”
