Artificial intelligence-driven fighting game AI Arena has announced the launch date for its NRN token, following a successful play-to-airdrop campaign earlier this year.
Earlier this year, AI Arena allowed 8,000 users to play its unique brawler game, built on Ethereum layer-2 scaling network Arbitrum, while in pre-release. Participants had the chance to earn potential token rewards through a campaign featuring social media influencers. Now, those rewards are ready to be claimed.
Participants can claim their tokens at 7 am UTC on Monday, June 24. The tokens will be listed on a centralized exchange an hour later, although the specific exchange(s) have yet to be announced.
AI Arena, a game reminiscent of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros., lets players control their characters using artificial intelligence (AI). Unlike traditional button-mashing games, players act as the fighter’s coach, aiming to win through extensive AI-driven training.
In March, the final round of the play-to-airdrop campaign, “Gateway of the Arena,” concluded. This competition aimed to attract players and provide token rewards for playing the pre-release game.
The 8,000 participants earned scores based on their AI fighters’ performances. Each player was part of a team led by one of eight influencers, including YellowPanther and Wale. The team’s collective performance determined the size of the airdrop multiplier each player received.
Depending on individual, AI, and team performance, players were rewarded with varying amounts of airdropped tokens. AI Arena plans to distribute 80 million NRN tokens—half from the play-to-airdrop campaign and half tied to “NRN Boxes,” reward boxes linked to community engagement.
AI Arena plans to launch a version of the game that will require an NFT access pass to play. This version will serve as the elite proving ground for the highest-level players, as the developer sees significant esports potential in this AI-driven fighting game.
