9 Lives Interactive Raises $3 Million for Blockchain Shooter Game Nyan Heroes

Singapore’s 9 Lives Interactive recently wrapped up a $3 million funding round to launch Nyan Heroes, a new hero shooter game featuring blockchain-based assets. This game, set on the Solana blockchain, will soon make its debut to the public.

Mechanism Capital led this round of investment, with additional support from entities like Sfermion, Momentum 6, 3Commas Capital, Devmons GG, Kosmos Ventures, and CSP DAO. This follows the studio’s $7.5 million raised in 2022.

The game will enter a limited early access phase from March 26 to April 9, accessible via the Epic Games Store. This phase allows gamers to experience Nyan Heroes before its full release.

To engage the community, 9 Lives Interactive has initiated a play-to-airdrop campaign in alignment with the early access launch. This campaign offers players a chance to earn rewards from the upcoming NYAN token drop, previously referred to as “NYN”.

The first phase of this campaign began earlier in the week, encouraging players to collect “MEOW” points by completing missions on the game’s website. So far, the campaign has seen over 200,000 sign-ups, involving more than 120,000 unique Solana wallets.

Nyan Heroes invites players into competitive battles where cats control mech suits. It resembles Blizzard’s popular Overwatch series but introduces a unique twist with its cat-themed heroes. The game offers eight guardian classes, each equipped with special abilities, to accomplish objectives and challenge opponents.

Andrew Kang, co-founder and partner at Mechanism Capital, expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “We’re thrilled to lead an investment round for Nyan Heroes, a project that will redefine standards for Web3 shooters. The creativity of the IP and the unique gameplay mechanics are what we believe sets it apart.”
