Eric Adams has retained his spot in the New York’ mayoral race and is now the contest’s frontrunner, to the delight of many crypto enthusiasts.
In the past months, a lot of focus has been on Miami, Florida, with its mayor, Francis Suarez proactively strengthening the city’s position as a top spot for the global crypto spot.
For the time being, New York’s City mayoral race seems to have taken some of Miami’s momentum away as Democratic nominee, Eric Adams, made a progressive pledge towards the big Apple’s adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. On Tuesday he said:
“I’m going to promise you: In one year — one year — you’re going to see a different city. […] We’re going to become the center of life science, the center of cybersecurity, the center of self-driving cars, drones, the center of Bitcoins. We’re going to be the center of all the technology.”
Adams, a self- described “conservative Republican” earlier in his career, is currently the favorite in the city’s mayoral elections. His leading position six months ahead of the November elections only got confirmed by the concession of fellow candidate Andrew Yang. Yang also a staunch crypto advocate.
