Share

Speaking at a panel at Austin’s South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) on Tuesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said they “are working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term.” This according to a tweet from Engadget Senior Editor Karissa Bell. Bell noted that Zuckerberg added that he is “not ready to kind of announce exactly what that’s going to be today.”

Another Tweet from a writer of The Verge’s Platformer newsletter reported that Zuckerberg said that “hopefully” Instagram users can mint their own non-fungible tokens (NFT) within the app in the coming months.

Facebook changed its name to Meta in October 2021 to highlights its focus on the metaverse and virtual reality, which includes NFTs.
