Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds spoke with Bloomberg on Tuesday where he shared his views on cryptocurrency and the advertisements of crypto exchanges that aired during Sunday’s Super Bowl.
The 45-year-old Canadian actor, best known for the Deadpool movies and recently Free Guy, echoed mainstream sentiment that the digital asset class has become a serious player in global finance.
The actor said:
“I think companies are doing a good job of bringing it into a sort of safer, more mainstream light.
90% of the word ‘crypto’ is ‘crypt’ so I see why certain folks might be put off or intimidated by it.”

He added:
“It’s been emerging for a long time as a huge player so I’m not super surprised.”
One of the crypto advertisements during Super Bowl LVI, which also was a huge success for online sports betting operations in the U.S, for Reynolds was Coinbase’ bouncing QR. He opined:
“Sometimes, a great way to do that is to use celebrities. Sometimes a terrible way to do that is to use celebrities … [overall] they seem to be doing some things pretty well.”

Nevertheless, when Reynolds was asked about whether he owns any crypto currently, he kept a straight face saying:
“I don’t really want to comment on that.”
Next to his acting career, Reynolds acts as chief creative officer of the self-service ad platform MNTN.
