The National Collegiate Athletics Association establishes exploratory sports betting committee

The NCAA or the National Athletics has established a committee which will be looking after the expanding market of the US sports betting industry. The committee will also be studying the impact on the association's current rules.

The committee has also be tasked at how sports betting impacts on the NCAA's educational efforts and player availability reporting and finding out a feasible way of dealing with the risks associated with sports wagering.

"The members of the NCAA wish to take thoughtful approach towards the issue of sports betting," NCAA board of governors chairman and GP Bud, Georgia tech president asserted.

"We wish to protect the values and maintain the integrity of the student-athlete well-being. Keeping the competition alive while trying to uphold the spirit of the game is at the heart of our core values," he added.

He also said that they starved hard to evolve and adapt the approach as the landscape of sports betting changes in the United States. Currently, the National Collegiate Athletic Association prohibits all sort of betting on sports. They prohibit students, athletes and coaches from sports wagering and they do not plan to change it anytime soon.

The committee intends to work with the staff of NCAA's national office staff, student athletes and others for ensuring a transparency in the system.

"Protecting our students and athletes through education related to sports gambling prevention is most important. It is our primary goal," NCAA board vice chairman Glen Jones said.

Our initiative will also be supported by sports betting and well being summit which they plan to hold in March 2019. It will be organized by the NCAA Sport Science.
