Sportradar and the British Basketball League (BBL) announced that they have entered in a new partnership, where Sportradar will become the preferred betting data partner for the 2014/2015 season of the professional basketball leagues in the UK. This will lead to an increase in matches covered by the BBL TV, increasing from 30 to 45.
The BBL is the premier men’s professional basketball league in the UK, which has a total of 13 teams from England and Scotland. These teams compete for the title through regular season and then play-offs and also competes for the BBL cup.
Commenting on the partnership, the League’s Commercial Director David Leyden Dunbar said: “This is such a positive news story at the beginning of the 2014/15 Season, where we’ve been able to deliver a partnership which all BBL fans can benefit from instantly. This season we’ve strived to improve BBL TV’s output but the addition of 15 extra live games has only been made possible through Sportradar’s investment and support.”
Sportradar’s Managing Director Data & Licensing, Johannes Ranke had this to add: “The British Basketball League is such an exciting league, with teams from Glasgow down to Plymouth and one that a lot of the up and coming talent of the UK look up to. The opportunity to help in the development and growth of UK basketball is an exciting one, and we are proud that our partnership will see the league’s channel broadcast 50 % more matches than it did last season”.
