Slovakia Releases The Blacklist Of Banned Online Sports Betting Operators

Share

A blacklist of banned online sports betting operators has been issued by Slovakia after the country passed an amendment last year that required all the firms to first obtain a licence before offering their services to players in the country.

The list features ten names that include betting giants like Bet365, Bwin and William Hill. The finance ministry has further warned other 17 online operators, asking them to shut their local operations within ten days.

Other firms to be blacklisted include 888 Holdings, Bet-At-Home, 1xBet and Curacao-licensed EatSleepBet along with Maltese license holders LVBet and Kajot-Casino. All those companies that fail to stop their services in Slovakia may be subjected to fines of up to $576,600.

According to the 2016 amended online gaming law, for those gaming operators who want to provide betting services in Slovakia will have to pay 27% taxes on their gross gaming revenue. The measure made the state-owned Tipos Lottery organisation as the only legal firm to provide online casino and poker games.

The finance ministry has said though it has not blocked the access to the blacklisted firms’ domains from inside the country, if the operators fail to withdraw their services, it will seek court order against them.
