Paddy Power Backing David Ginola as New FIFA President

Paddy Power, one of the most famous and controversial bookmakers in the world, has once again shocked the community. This time it is by backing the former footballer and model, David Ginola, to become the new president of FIFA instead of Sepp Blatter who has been in tons of controversy and bribe cases lately.

Paddy Power has created videos with Ginola to gain support of the world for him to be elected and started their usual social media campaign, this time under the hashtag #TeamGinola. Furthermore they have set up the website, where people can read more about Ginola and how he will improve FIFA.

Paddy Power has paid the initial €325,000 fee for Ginola to be able to run for the presidential title, but has at the same time asked for users to donate funds as well towards the campaign. There’s a goal of well over €3 million in funding, but it is doubtful if users are willing to throw more money after Paddy Power.

Ginola needs more than a simple backing with funds to be able to run for president however, as he will need backing from a handful of football associations in the world just to be able to run. From there it will still become increasingly difficult, when you take the other opponents into the equation along with Mr. Blatter surely running again.

It will be interesting to see how far the Irish-based bookie will take the campaign this time and if they will be able to help him get the support and finances needed to make an impact in the run for president.
