NYX Gaming has revealed that a stunning 24 million sports bets were recorded on its OpenBet platform during last weekend’s Grand National.

Saturday, April 8 saw the company process 68,000 bets per minute, which was 10% more than last year’s figure. In addition, OpenBet recorded 74 million account transactions, which was a 22% increase from 2016.

The overall performance of the 2017 Grand National was also boosted by an increase in wagers placed over mobile devices, which stood at about 76%.

Matt Davey, CEO of OpenBet, commented that his platform managed to handle very well such a milestone event for the industry as the Grand National. He compared the company’s performance to the 36,000 transactions per minute Amazon processed in 2016 when it was at its peak.

Last month, OpenBet hit record Cheltenham Festival figures when it processed a total of 35,000,000 sports bets and 227,000,000 account transactions over the four days of the event.
