NordicBet, the Scandinavian faced betting company from Betsson, announced today that they have agreed to a multi-year deal to be the official betting partner of the Championship Hockey League, GamingIntelligence.com reports. CHL is a new European hockey tournament which launches next month and is the ice hockey pendant to the football version, where the best teams play against each other.

The tournament was created and launched by 26 teams from across Europe and the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), with group stage taking place from August to October and then playoffs from November.

A similar tournament was created back in 2008, but closed down after two seasons due to the lack of funds through sponsors and similar. This time the homework has been done a little better and they organizers believe that the tournament will survive this time.

“The newly created Champions Hockey League is an ideal platform to promote our extensive online betting and gaming portfolio by reaching out to the enthusiastic ice hockey audience in our target markets across Europe and even beyond.” Marketing Manager of NordicBet, Mikael Nilsson said in a press release.

NordicBet will be shown on the official website of the cup as well as be on tv visible and non-tv visible area’s with their brand, ensuring maximum exposure of their brand.

The CHL games will be a significant component of NordicBet’s gaming offer – whilst vice versa, the brand will build an integral element of the next three seasons.” CEO of Champions Hockey League, Martin Baumann said.
