Last week there were reports on multiple online sports and gambling news outlets about Floyd Mayweather betting over $10 million on the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl. The results favoured the Seattle Seahawks, which dominated the game and defeated the Broncos 43-8. The score would have turned Mayweather into one of the biggest Super Bowl betting losers. That is, if the rumours had been true.
Floyd Mayweather said in a post on his Instagram account, “Somebody lied to you all. If I was going to bet, I would have bet on the Seattle Seahawks. I’m the best defensive fighter, it’s only right to go with the best defensive team”.
He continued, “I did NOT bet $10 million on The Broncos. As a matter of fact, I didn’t bet at all. I can’t control what rumors that are put out there. Good or bad publicity keeps me relevant. The only thing I would bet $10 million on is MYSELF. From the looks of my record, I’m a guaranteed WIN!!!”.
According to the comments posted by fans and followers on Instagram, the picture of Mayweather with a bunch of cash (the same picture on this news article), is an old picture of Floyd Mayweather in a bank.
