Lobbying Groups Suggest Atlantic City May Get A Quick Start On Sports Betting

One of the issues, the U.S. Supreme Court will debate would be the lift the nationwide federal ban on the sports betting.

The American Gaming Association looks at the political scenario of the 14 states which have passed the legislation, which could bring in the sports betting if a favouring decision comes along the way.

According to one of the groups favouring the change thinks that the Atlantic City has an advantage over others to make a move. What sets Atlantic City apart from the others is the New Jersey’s action which is being debated.

Steve Doty, the spokesman for the association, told the KYW Newsradio that there wouldn’t be much of a debate on whether sports betting should be legalised in the state. He said the states are “ready to go. They’ve made it clear that they want it.”

Doty believes that if approved, the law could make way for sports bet In New Jersey, immediately after the decision, which is expected sometime around June, next year. According to Doty, a regulated market could bring in around $875 million for the state’s economy and create up to 4400 jobs with $192 million in tax revenue.

The high court is expected to hear the arguments either late this year or early next year.
