Kevin Magnussen is the latest aspiring formula one talent and yesterday in the race in Melbourne he showed why McLaren has put their faith in his talent. The Danish rookie started in fourth place in his first race and originally finished in third, not only becoming the first Dane to have ever reached the podium, but also giving him the same debut as Lewis Hamilton had back in 2007.
The 21 year old Magnussen however got an even better debut than he could have ever dreamed of, as second place finisher Daniel Ricciardo was disqualified, moving Magnussen up to second place. “It does feel incredible. It’s now crazy to think that we are here,” Magnussen said right after the race, when he had just finished in third place.
“Today I’ve done my first Formula One race, I got on the podium and I did it with McLaren. It’s such a dream come true. I can’t explain how it feels, it’s just unreal.” he continued. With the second place Magnussen became the highest placed debutant since Jacques Villeneuve and hopes are very high for the talented Dane.
Nico Rosberg was the winner of the Melbourne Formula One race, with a very dominant and secure victory over the rest of the field.
