A mystery woman in England has bagged the astonishing payout almost £600k from a £1 William Hill football 12-team accumulator bet, picking out 12 teams by how their names sounded.
The 59 years old woman from Kent took up betting after getting fed up with her husband and son watching football every weekend. As reported, her 30-year-old son used to read out the fixtures to her, and she made her picks with not much of an idea of how those sides are doing.
Carli Faulkner, the manager of the William Hill branch in Leysdown-On-Sea, described the incredible £574,278.41 windfall as the biggest winning bet she has ever handled. She could not believe how the lady got them all up. Before this, her biggest payout was around £25,000.
The husband and son of the lucky woman are both Tottenham Hotspur fans, but she did not pick Spurs and got it right in her betting bonanza.
Rupert Adams, William Hill spokesman, said that the lady’s husband had been making the £1 weekend bet since he was 18 and described it as 40 years of practice on football punting. While the woman started putting money on the same bet about 6 years ago. He said that the lady luck did it for the couple. He described that he had not seen anything like this in his 15 years in the business working for William Hill, also calling it the biggest football win by a female punter for just a quid.
