In a statement, Governor Christie declared ‘I’m not giving up on Atlantic City’ and expressed that its future is just a matter of more investment from the state and casino operators. As gambling revenues drop for the seventh year in a row, luxury tax revenues from other attractions increase instead.

The governor said on Monday that the town can become once again a blooming entertainment centre. All that is needed is some reinvestment from its businesses’ in order to create a much hospitable and attractive place for visitors.

However, the governor is aware of the difficult economic times the government goes through. “I’m not happy with the results at the moment. That may mean that we need to take some more action when the Legislature comes back into session after the election, but we’re going to continue to plug away on it” he said.
