Gambia Eases Up On Gambling Market Ban

The executive order has been issued by the Gambia President Adam Barrow which will end the ban on Gambian gambling services for lotteries, casino and sports betting activities.

Gambia that earlier had a gambling ban imposed by the Former President Yahya Jammeh of the Patriotic Alliance Government and cited that Gambia should not follow the trend of other African nations by allowing gambling services which would exploit the nation’s workforce and welfare.

Jammeh was also strict with the criminals and civilians and ordered strict action against those who offered betting services or those who participated in it.

In a pledge to revive the economy and turn Gambia into the leading West Africa business/commerce hub by liberalising the country’s services and trade by 2016 elect Barrow took this measure to start the gambling services which would bring in revenue. He further seeks to modernise the nation’s economy.
