From $24 to over $107K win at Melbourne Cup

The Melbourne Cup at Flemington is a horse race which paralizes the entire Australian nation and which has punters betting over $90 million through the NSW and Victorian TABs with an additional $37 million being wagered at TattsBet in Queensland and Tasmania.

One such punter, who goes by the nickname of Jados, placed a $24 bet on which returned him $107,190 for having picked the first four horses across the finish line in the Melbourne Cup. The bettor from Dampier, Western Australia, chose correctly and bet on Fiorente, Red Cadeaux, Mount Athos and Simenon in a boxed first four. The bet has a cost of $24 since it offers 24 different winning variations.

Jados said during a statement, “I’m very excited, the kids picked two horses and I picked the other two so I suppose I have to give them some of the credit. I’ve told all my mates but none of them believe me. My missus is completely stoked and she’s already got a new car picked out”.

A Sportingbet spokesperson said there were plenty of winners in yesterday’s race. Another successful example is that of a man who placed a $40,000 wager at $7 on Fiorente and won $280,000.
