eSports Betting Legalises in Nevada

Senate Bill 240, passed earlier this month by both the Houses was signed into a law by the Governor of Nevada.

This bill would legalise off-track pari-mutuel sports betting in the state. It would include eSports betting under other events, also allowing betting on certain events like winners of the Oscars.

This bill will be effective from July 1.

Before this legislation only betting at state horse and greyhound racing tracks, and athletic sporting events were allowed.

With this new law enforcement, Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) would now be able to issue licenses, and only the licensed operators would be allowed to provide eSports in Nevada. These operators then would be taxed at 3% of the total money wagered on each event. NGC could also adopt or modify regulations related to eSports betting.
