Deutsche Telekom to enter sports betting market?

Deutsche Telekom has recently delivered an application for one of the few and covetted sports betting licenses. This could put the German telecommunications company at the helm of a brutal competition with online gambling compannies for the concession.

It is still too early to speculate what will happen, but a spokesman for Deutsche Telekom in a statement to Reuters, said: “It is not yet certain whether that will turn into an operating business”.

He added that the application would be reviewed by the Interior Ministry of State in Hessen, Germany. The spokesperson for the Ministry did not offer a statement.
