Gambling market in Denmark is on the rise, reporting an increase of 4 % in the second quarter in 2017, year-on-year.
The Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, in its latest regulatory filing reported that the operators in the country generated a revenue of DKK 1.46bn in the second quarter ending June 30. The revenues increased from DKK1.405bn during the same time last year.
The online sector turned out to be the strongest area of growth during this period, where a growth of 16% was recorded in the second quarter of 2016 to DKK458m during the same time in 2016.
The revenue figures from online poker disappointed by going down from DKK37.1m in Q2 2016 to DKK33m during the Q2 of 2017. The online poker market in the country has reported a constant decline since Q1 2014 high of DKK47m.
Sports betting and land-based gaming, on the other hand, proved to be constant every year, generating DKK522m and DKK387m.
