Coral to Sponsor Wigan Warriors Rugby Club

By Daniel Allermand

Wigan Warriors, one of the leading UK rugby clubs, announced today that they have signed a sponsorship agreement with Coral Sports, the land-based and online bookmaker. The bookmaker will be the sponsor of the club in the 2015 Super League season and will have their name displayed on the clubs jersey.

The sponsorship agreement between Coral and a rugby club is actually the first of its kind, as they have never sponsored any rugby club before. Coral is replacing Houses for Homes as the sponsor of the club’s home and away jersey’s and will be paying a significant amount of money for the season.

“We are ecstatic to be welcoming such a distinguished company as Coral into the Wigan club and the sport of rugby league. As a forward-thinking company, Coral have adapted to the online betting market exceptionally well and are exactly the kind of organisation that will help drive the brand of Wigan Rugby League forward.” Wigan Warriors Sales Director, Geoff Warburton said in a press release.

“This is Coral’s first sponsorship venture into rugby league, so we are delighted to be partnering with the most successful Rugby League club in Britain.” Interactive Marketing Director of Coral, Matt Prevost added.
