Casino Industry Takes Up the Annulment of the Sports Betting Laws

Share

What looks like a (Casino) Industrial revolution is when a group of the largest lobby is making extreme efforts to annul the ancient 25-year-old federal laws that ban sports betting in most of the states.

An alliance involving the organisations of attorneys general and police, policymakers and others to advocate for the annulment of the ban was announced by the American Gaming Association.

Except for Delaware, Montana, Nevada and Oregon where legal sports gambling is allowed as these states had approved of some form of wagering before the federal law went into effect, sports betting is banned in every other state because of the Professional And Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992.

There is a strong support nationwide for legal betting was concluded from a survey commissioned by the organisation. Some 150,000 jobs can be supported with the legalising sports betting in the U.S as showed Oxford Economics research.

The association has also met with the player’s unions of the NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB to discuss the challenges that legalised sports betting could create for players.
