This November, at the Brazilian Gaming Congress, executives from gambling firms such as Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Intralot, Lottomatica, GLI, Inspired Gaming Groups, Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency, will be disclosing how the integrity of sports can be maintained with the correct regulation of sports gambling.

The reason why Brazil was chosen for this event, is that the country will be hosting a mayor sports events in the near future: the Olympics and the World Cup. Eamonn Toland, Paddy Power’s president in North America expressed: “We can never be complacent about match-fixing or corruption in sports but the problem of corruption is magnified enormously in jurisdictions where there is no legal, regulated sports betting.” In a market the size of Brazil, with billions of Réals at stake, the obvious way to thwart corruption is by legalising and regulating sports betting” he added.
