ARJEL, the French gambling regulator in its recent publishing, declared the turnover from sports betting in France had hit the all time high by reaching €636m (£567m) mark. The sports betting market in France is experiencing what is called the largest growth in years. The major contributor to the high generated revenues is the returning interests of the users in now become famous again horse betting market.
Though the numbers look good, ARJEL reported that it had been the slowest Q2 growth in the past four years (22%), however last year the same time France hosted the European championship which considerably boosted the local market.
The report further detailed out the now rising again horse racing market which is experiencing its first year-on-year growth for four years. The income generated from the horse racing market has been up by 9% from the previous year reaching €239m (£205m), which has resulted in more player returning, which is up by 1.1 percentage points.
