Paddy Power, the Ireland-based bookmaker famous for its controversy, announced today that their new chief executive officer Andy McCue has officially started in his new role with the company. The start has been expected since September last year, where Paddy Power announced that McCue would replace Patrick Kennedy.

Kennedy was the CEO of Paddy Power for eight years before stepping down, having taken the brand from known in the UK to a global brand known all over the world. It will be some big shoes that McCue has to fill for Kennedy, but it is believed that he is the man to move Paddy Power forward in the same pace as in the past.

“Patrick has transformed the business over the last 10 years, strongly positioning us in attractive markets, which are delivering good payback. We have a tremendous team and I very much look forward to working with them to build on that success by continuing to engage customers with the best value, product and brand.” McCue said in a press release regarding his appointment.

Other key positions has also experienced some change in these days, as Peter O’Donovan has been named the new Chief Product Officer, Christian WOolfenden is the new Managing Director of UK and Ireland Retail Business and finally Johnny Hartnett has been appointed Managing Director of Paddy Power’s Online Business.
