In a time where poker has been in decline for a few years overall, many smaller live poker tournaments are closing down simply because they cannot attract enough players to make it worth the efforts of hosting it. But there’s an alternative that more and more tournament series see and that is to join forces with another tournament series and thus increase the overall attendance.
This is what Deepstacks Poker Tour has done with the World Poker Tour, who will work together and offer a mid-major tournament series around the US. The tournament series will be called WPTDeepstacks and offers big guaranteed prize pools, huge attendances, more variants as well as a guaranteed seat to the WPT World Championship for the WPTDeepstack player of the year.
The goal is to provide exclusive tournaments to players who cannot afford to play the $5-10,000 tournaments. The experience needs to be world-class good and the players should feel like they are in the most important tournament of their life. While the schedule for 2015 is not out yet, WPT and DPT are working on creating a unique schedule for the players.
