Unibet to switch poker software in 2014

Online gaming company Unibet has annaounced that it will be dropping its current poker software provider and launching a new poker client built independently in early 2014. The new poker software has been developed with participation of Estonian-based software developer Relax Gaming. It was designed to cater mainly to recreational players.

Unibet has been very closely and deeply involved in the design and development of the new client which has given the company the chance to start from scratch and build something worthwhile from the ground up. Unibet has stated it lost faith in the future of online poker networks and that this model of business has run its productive course. This is what prompted the creation of the new poker client.

According to the head of gaming at Unibet, Daniel Eskola, “In a way, our goal is to bring the fun back to poker by creating software with a clear focus on the casual player. The environment in the online poker industry has changed over the years and we have come to the insight that being part of a poker network is not sustainable for Unibet in the long term.”
